Why Membership Matters
Does it really matter if I’m a member or not? Why do I have to take a class to even become a member? Why do I have to sign anything? People often ask these questions about our membership process, skeptical as to why there seem to be so many “hoops” to jump through.
It’s true. We take membership seriously and with a lot of gravity. Committing yourself to a body of believers is weighty. But it’s also wonderful. When Covenant Members join, they commit to a spiritual family that provides encouragement and support. They are called to a biblical degree of responsibility, service and sacrifice to their brothers and sisters. Our elders and leaders also pledge to assist our Covenant Members with care, counsel, prayer and teaching.
If the Bible is the cornerstone of our church, then membership is the cement that holds us all together. Both Christ and Paul pointed us toward membership for our encouragement, our protection, and our instruction. We seek to carry out this vision through our four-step process by which to join Image Church.

What is Covenant Membership?
It is important to us that you know what you are committing to and who you are committing to. At our Covenant Membership class we will spend time discussing our beliefs, mission, and theological distinctives. We also want to hear from you, we want to have the opportunity to hear your story as well as provide an environment to answer any questions you might have. It is important to us that you to know exactly what it means to become a covenant member at Image Church!
After attending our membership class, the final step in becoming a member is to sign the Membership Covenant. We will explain the covenant, listen to your testimony and answer any questions you might have. Once you fulfill the requirements of membership and sign the covenant, you are considered a Covenant Member.
Baptism isn't required for salvation, but it is the NEXT STEP of faith for believers.
Baptism is intended for those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ. We baptize by immersion because we believe Scripture teaches immersion, and it also best symbolizes the reality to which baptism points—our death and resurrection in Christ (Rom 6:3-4).
If you have not been baptized following salvation, we ask you to take this step before becoming a Covenant Member. If you would like to be baptized you can join us at our Covenant Membership class so that we can meet you and get you signed up for our next Baptism Weekend!
