Based on the model that we see in Acts 2:42-47, we’ve established Community Groups to be the place where discipleship happens.

What is a Disciple?

The bible shows us that a healthy disciple is a person that is responding to the gospel by growing as a:

Worshiper: Growing in the knowledge of God, and in your love for God, having right beliefs, right practices and right affections (John 4:23-24, Ephesians 3:14-21, Colossians 1:9-14, Colossians 3:17, Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, 1 Peter 1:13-16, 1 Peter 2:2-3, 1 Peter 2:9-10, 2 Peter 3:18, 1 Thessalonians 1:3, 1 Tim 4:7-8).

Family Member: Gathering regularly with the family of God corporately, and communally throughout the week for the purpose of growing in personal holiness, love for one another and mission (John 13:34-35, Acts 2:42-47, Acts 4:32-35, Heb 3:12-14, Heb 10:19-25, Colossians 3:12-16, Romans 12:1-17, 1 Peter 1:22-23, 1 Thess 2:8, 2 Thes 1:3, Hebrews 12:14, 1 Corinthians 5:4, 1 Corinthians 11:33, 1 Corinthians 12).

Steward: Leveraging your time, talent and treasure through service, hospitality, and generosity for the sake of the church family and your neighbor (Matt. 6:19-24, Matt 25:14-30, Matt 25:42-45, Luke 10:25-37, Luke 12:13-21, Romans 12:13, 1 Peter 4:9-10, 1 Tim 6:17-19, 1 Cor 12-13, 2 Corinthians 8:1-9, 2 Corinthians 9:1-15, 1 John 3:16-17, 1 Tim 5:10, Titus 1:8).

Missionary: Living as an ambassador of Christ by engaging the lost with the gospel in order to show what it means to know, love and follow Jesus (John 4:35-37, John 20:21, Mark 16:15, Mt 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Romans 10:14-17, 2 Timothy 2:2, 2 Corinthians 2:15, 2 Corinthians 5:20, 1 Cor 9:19).

The Primary Way that Discipleship happens?

  • Discipleship is life-on-life
  • Discipleship takes place within the context of the local church

Discipleship isn’t just "feed me"… it’s feed me so that I can feed others!
