In 2005 Mike went to the University of North Carolina to play baseball. And while he was there God really began to stir in him a burden for ministry. He had the opportunity to lead through an on-campus ministry called Athletes in Action, and it was there that he began to see God work through him. He began to learn how to leverage his platform to share the gospel and had the privilege of leading teammates to Christ during his four years as a student-athlete. From then on that he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life leading, teaching and discipling people toward Christ.
Mike graduated from The University of North Carolina in 2009 finishing with a BA in Communication. From there he went on to receive a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. While Mike was in Seminary God started the process of laying church planting on his heart.
In 2012 Mike joined the staff of The Summit Church, under Pastor JD Greear located in Raleigh/Durham NC where he had been attending since his freshman year of college. While on staff at The Summit Church he had the opportunity to help launch The Summit Chapel Hill Campus. It was through the opportunities that the Chapel Hill Campus brought that God began to make clear to Mike and his wife Ashley that he was calling them to to further advance the mission by planting a new gospel-centered church.
In 2017 Mike was set out from the Summit to plant Image Church in Atlanta Georgia. With them, they brought a core team of 33 people who would help make this possible. Image Church officially launched on January 21, 2018.
Mike married the love of his life who happened to be a school teacher from Farmer, North Carolina. Together they have three kids: Adalyn, Braxton, and Cole.
